Today, the Food Basics brand is owned by Allegiance Retail Services, the cooperative that also runs Foodtown, Freshtown, Pathmark, Green Way, and other independent stores. A Foodtown in Shavertown, PA was converted to Food Basics in 2019, but months later, the store was acquired by Weis Markets and closed. There currently aren't any Food Basics stores operating in the US, but the chain remains in business under Metro's ownership in Canada.
